Lady Slipper Mosaic Birdhouse
Originally this birdhouse had a doorway decorated with a sunflower mosaic. During the winter of 07/08 the downy woodpeckers in my yard decided to enlarged the entrance so I needed to fix it. I replace the doorway and decorated it with a pretty mosaic Lady Slipper flower. This summer I caught them trying to enlarge it again but so far this door has held up better than the other one. To discourage the birds from pecking away at the entrance again I nailed a copper ring to the inside of the opening and I chose larger pieces of glass to mosaic around the entrance. A grout sealer was used to help protect it from the elements.

Color Burst Birdhouse

This birdhouse was originally made by my father and this spring I needed to give the house a fresh coat of paint and replace the rotted roof with a new roof. The new roof has a colorful mosaic design with blue and green glass nuggets and colorful pieces of stained glass. The house has been in use for about 10 years and most summers the occupants have been the troublesome house sparrows except in 2004 a flying squirrel moved in. Take a look at the picture of him peeking out of the opening of the birdhouse.

Green and Yellow Splash Birdhouse
This colorful birdhouse is decorated with a mosaic of green and yellow glass. This is the third year this house has been outside and every year House Sparrows move in until this year I made the opening of the birdhouse smaller with the mosaic in the hopes of encouraging other kinds of birds to move in. So far there has been no occupants.

Baby's New House

This wren birdhouse was purchased already made with unfinished wood. I have painted it a bright pink and decorated the roof and walls with pink and blue glass. White grout was used to brighten the house and a protective layer of polyurethane was applied.
